I think there’s a leak in my house. What should I do?
First, turn off all your faucets before you go searching for the source. Check your water meter and see if it’s moving. If it’s moving, there’s a good chance that there’s a leak. Then, shut off your home’s main water valve. If your water meter stops moving, the leak is likely coming from inside.
The best thing to do is to call a plumber to inspect the situation. Call us at 804-615-7588 to set up an appointment to have us assess and diagnose any water leaks you may be experiencing.
How can I prevent clogs?
Clogged drains can cause messy and expensive issues if they’re not properly addressed right away. How can you prevent them and do your part?
- Dispose of cooking grease & coffee grounds in the trash
- Run hot water through the sink after each use
- Place a hair catcher in your shower drain & remove hair after each use
- Do not flush hygiene products, wipes, or paper towels down the toilet
If large clogs don’t respond with plunger use, contact us to help.
Do I need my water heater repaired or replaced?
If you have a water heater and aren’t sure if it needs servicing, check to see if:
- Water is lukewarm or cold
- Pilot light goes out
- Hot water has rust or a bad odor
- Water heater is leaking from the top or bottom
- Weird sounds from high pressure
If your water heater is 10-15 years old, it may be time to replace it.
How can I increase my home’s water pressure?
Your water pressure may be low due to clogs, mineral buildup, or leaks. In cases of severe water pressure issues it is best to call us to schedule an appointment to assess the situation.
How can I prevent frozen pipes?
Though the climate is mild in Richmond, VA, residents are subject to the occasional Nor’easter and bouts of freezing weather. To prevent your pipes from freezing, it’s essential to install pipe-wrap insulation. In addition to pipe insulation, removing hoses from outside faucets, sealing and preventing any air through your crawl space, and letting water drip through the night from your faucets will also help during bouts of freezing temperatures. If you have frozen pipes and need assistance, call us at 804-615-7588.
